Rye High School Student Council, along with the students and staff at Rye High School, raised over $2,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Societyís Pennies for Patients. Student Council students put on a two-week fundraiser to help raise the money.

Jennifer Moody, Senior Campaign Manager of the LLS Student Series, contacted Mrs. McKinley (RHS student council sponsor) to set up a meeting with the Student Council and her presentation really hit home with the students. The students decided immediately that they wanted to organize some events for our student body to raise awareness for blood cancers and donate as much money as possible.

The two-week-long fundraiser for LLS kicked off on Thursday, February 28th with a school-wide assembly to present what LLS is all about during the school day, and an 80ís Dance that evening from 7-10pm. The assembly presented the amazing research LLS is doing to help cure blood cancers and also a timeline of events for the following two weeks of fundraising. They also had goal rewards planned, which were hilarious and exciting things that were to happen on stage at the final assembly for each set amount of money they raised.
