On Tuesday, April 9th, Rye High School’s baseball team continued their winning ways by

beating Las Animas 17-3 at home. Coach Stacie Graham started Junior pitcher Robert Buford,

who threw 55 pitches. Buford was eventually relieved at the mound by Freshman Brock Benz.

Junior Kreed Rahl went three for three with four RBIs (Runs Batted In) at the plate. Robert

Buford also had a good day, going three for four with three RBIs. Rye’s hitters slammed 15 total

hits in the contest.

On Saturday, April 13th, Rye’s team braved chilly weather and loaded up the bus at 6:30 am.

They drove about two hours, heading to Salida for a double-header. As a reminder, Rye is 2A,

while Salida has a larger student population, and is a 3A school.

In game one, Coach Graham called on Senior Damon Elerton for the start. Elerton was brilliant,

throwing a no-hitter for four innings. He totaled 53 pitches with eight strikeouts and no walks.
