Maroney Wins Gold in LaJunta

The T-Bolts track team headed out to the La Junta Tiger Relays on April 19. In the 4X800 relay Audrey Maroney hands off to anchor Jolee Ortiz. The team finished in 3rd place with a final time of 11:10.65.

Audrey Maroney won the gold medal in the 3200-meter run at the LaJunta Tiger Relays held in LaJunta last Friday. Maroney ran the race in 12:45.95 in the 22-team field. That run puts her in the #7 spot statewide as a freshman.

Tess Zupancic won the silver medal in the 400-meter dash which she ran in a season best time of 1:04.20. That run gave her the 15th best time in the state. Jolee Ortiz won a bronze in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:37.37. Ortiz is currently ranked 13th in the state.

The 4x800 meter relay team composed of Ortiz, Emma Lesser, Audrey Himmelberg and Maroney also placed 3rd with a time of 11:10.65.

On the boys’ side of the track the top finisher was Logan Kirkendall who threw the discus 130’2” for a season best performance that was good for 4th place. That throw moved Kirkendall into tenth place in the state.
