I look in the mirror some mornings and wonder if people know I am a Christian. It is my hope people do. In James 4:4-5 James makes it clear there should be a marked difference between Christians and people who are not.

“You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God. Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.”

Pretty strong, huh? So, what sets Christians apart?

In Romans 12:9 it says to “Hate what is evil, cling to what is good.”

That really contradicts the world’s mind set. In the world everything is OK. It doesn’t matter how offensive, how immoral, how disgusting, the general theme of the world is live and let live. States legislate the death of children. The parental unit is downplayed by government. In Colorado legislation is on the table that allows anyone over the age of 12 to determine their own mental health without parental consent. Do you hate that kind of evil?

Life styles are mandated to be taught in the schools- every lifestyle but a God centered lifestyle. God is not welcome in most public schools. Do you hate that kind of evil?

Jesus didn’t mince words when things were wrong. He loved the sinner but was clear where he stood on the sin. It mattered not if He was dealing with the prostitute, leper, tax collector, Roman official, or the religious establishment- He spoke the truth.

Maybe that’s a good place for me to focus. Maybe speaking the truth, lovingly, in a world that lacks truth is a good place to start. No more ignoring evil. No more winking at evil but putting evil in the spotlight by speaking the truth.

Do people know if you are a Christian?
