The Hollydot Ladies 18-Hole Golf Club held its annual Memorial Tournament, dedicated to Ann Ludvik. First flight winners were Ada Clark, Phyllis Mullen, and Mary Heuton. Second flight winners were Eleanor Byars, Helen Handley and Kathy Engel.

The Rye Women’s Club had celebrated its 63rd birthday at the Rye Home United Methodist Church. The club was federated in 1934. Twenty-Eight members were served dinner and the guest speaker was Senator Gigi Dennis.

A piece of Colorado City history was destroyed when the former Graneros Service Station at Interstate 25 and exit 71 burned to the ground. The service station was opened in 1973 by Alvin and Josephine Fossceco. It closed in 1978, but the small zoo next to it stayed in business until 1989. Fire Chief Charles Terrill determined the cause of the fire to be arson, and an investigation was underway.
