Freshman Maroney Wins Three Medals at State Track Meet

Freshman Audrey Maroney collected three medals at the 2A State Track Meet held at Jeff Co Stadium last week. Maroney placed 3rd in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:13.32. She placed 4th in the 4X800 meter relay along with teammates Emma Lesser, Tess Zupancic, and Jolee Ortiz in a time of 10:23.86 and ran a season best time of 5:35.25 in the 1600 meter which was good for 5th place.

In addition to her leg in the relay Ortiz set a season best time in the 800 meters of 2:30.84 for a 12th place finish. Zupancic also placed in an individual event with a 15th place finish in the 400 meter. Her time was 1:02.24.

Madison Gookin had an 11th place finish in the shot put with a throw of 33 7.75. Teammate Isabell Phillips threw the shot put 32 1.75 for a 16th place finish and placed 15th in the discus with a heave of 958.

Like Maroney, Gabe Slade placed in three events. In the 400 meter he finished 13th in a season best time of 52.62. In the 800 meter, Slade was 17th with a time of 2:07.37. Finally, Slade ran the anchor leg in the 4X800 meter along with Brock Roman, Akash Patel and Ethan Gerig. The time, in the 17th place finish, was 8:56.63.
