We live in a society that screams for heroes, real and make believe. US Navy Seals, Marines, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, reservists, police, Fire and EMS. Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman. Why is it that we are always looking for heroes somewhere ďout thereĒ when in reality they walk among us everyday. I think one reason we miss them is because we have a wrong concept of what a hero really is. Dictionary.com defines hero as ďa person noted for courageous acts or nobility of character.Ē Ok what constitutes a courageous act? Hereís a few suggestions. Saying no to the outing with friends so you donít miss your childrenís special events. Working at a job you donít like because it provides for your family. Being bone tired but reading a bedtime story to your kids anyway. Telling your wife/husband and your children that you love them everyday because you know it may be your or their ďlast dayĒ and you want the last thing they ever hear from you to be how much you adore them. Being willing to admit when you are wrong and repent, even if it means doing it to your 5 year old. Going out of your way to help someone in need that canít repay you.

2. Nobility of character.

Nobility means moral excellence. Character is integrity. Doing and saying what is right even if it brings you pain. Speaking truth even when speaking a lie would bring you peace.

Defending those that canít defend themselves. These things are but a few examples. Itís up to us to

to be the heroes this world is seeking. Be a Godly example! I donít mean this worlds idea of what it means to be Godly, Iím talking biblical Godliness! Guts, Grit, Courage, compassion! The Jesus kind of Godliness ,where one minute you are tending to those in need and the next you are taking the most intense beating the world can dish out all the while your faith, love, commitment and courage remains the same. This is the stuff heroes are made of.
