On Saturday, June 8, the Rye Town Hall building was open. Not for a meeting or regular business, but for the first non-town business use: a Wood Art Show.

The Town of Rye Board of Directors recently decided to allow community members to rent the Town Hall building for other purposes. Mayor Mickey Smith was the first to make use of the building by offering many of his woodworking projects for sale. Most of the items were pictures, but there were also wooden puzzles, clocks, doll furniture, game tables, and several chess sets.

Anyone interested in renting the Town Hall building for a gathering or event should contact the Town of Rye office for terms, conditions, and rates. A written request should be submitted 30 days prior to the requested date. All requests must be approved in advance by the Board of Directors.
