From the Pages of the Paper- June 22, 2001- 12 Pages Black and White- 50 Cents per Copy

Lightning was determined to be the cause of a three acre fire, two miles east of the San Isabel Boy Scout Ranch that started on June 15, 2001. Fourteen firefighters from the United States Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management and the Rye Fire Protection District hiked into the remote location to fight the fire. Air tankers from Albuquerque, NM and Grand Junction were used to keep the fire at bay, until ground crews could arrive.

The VFW Post #7305 and its Ladies Auxiliary each presented Karen Conry of Dream Weavers of Pueblo checks for $150. Presenting the checks was: Ladies Auxiliary President Doris Landerway, Post Commander Ron Spicer and Quarter Master Eugene Johnson.

The Greenhorn Valley Players was presenting Visit to a Small Planet written by Gore Vidal. Those with key roles were as follows: Rick Van Matre, David Herlacher, Kristen Inman, Bill Inman, and Connie Grimm. David Inman and Breezy Mitchell helped out with the filming crew. Barbara Van Matre was the director.
