Jacki Campbell Benner was surrounded by police friends, judges, family and well wishers as she celebrated the conclusion of 35 years as a police officer in Aurora. The large room for the celebration was decorated with flowers and food and drink were abundant.

There were the usual speakers filling the room with accolades and praise for the retiring officer. As the praise wound down, fellow Aurora Police Officer Bob Benner approached Jacki, got on one knee, and asked her to marry him.

After Jacki agreed Bob stood up and said, "If we only had a judge we could go ahead and get married.

Of course, there was a judge who was a friend in the assembly. She put on her black robe, a bouquet was pulled out of a hidden place in the flower arrangement and, in front of startled observers, Bob and Jacki became man and wife.
