The Reveille fire is located 9.5 miles North of Gardner, Colorado, in the San Carlos Ranger District of the San Isabel National Forest, in Huerfano County. The fire was reported to the Pueblo Inter-agency Dispatch Center on Monday June 3, 2019, at approximately 1:00 PM. The cause of the fire was lightning. The fire is in remote forest, and there are no evacuations in place and few values at risk.

Management of the Reveille Fire transferred from the Type 3 IMT back to the local unit on June 17, 2019. The fire is under the command of Incident Commander Flavio Jaramillo, ICT4. Cooperating agencies include the Upper Huerfano County Fire Protection District and the Wet Mountain Fire Protection District.

The fire is burning in a remote area of the forest with limited access due to heavy dead and downed fuels and steep, rugged terrain. These conditions, combined with low risk to values in the area, have prompted fire managers to choose a full-suppression strategy using indirect tactics, thus mitigating risk to firefighters. Crews are improving existing roads and trails in the area and utilizing them as indirect fire control lines while fire managers look for potential firing operations that will consume hazardous fuels. The reduction of these fuels will also lower future risks to first responders in this area.
