Local Youth Shine at Pueblo County Fair

From archery to showmanship, local 4-H and FFA members competed at the Pueblo County fair last week, July 20th through 27th. Approximately 28 members of the Greenhorn Kickers 4-H Club and 4 youth from the Rye FFA Chapter exhibited their talents, projects and animals at the fair. The fair began with the popular shooting sports competition, then the general projects were judged early in the week. Animal shows were held throughout the week and culminated in the Round Robin Showmanship competition. This competition takes the top two showmen from seven species (dogs, horses, sheep, swine, market goat, dairy goat and beef cattle) from each of three age groups and has them compete against each other. The top five placings are announced just before the beginning of the Showcase Sale, held Saturday evening. Below are some of the results:

.22 Rifle - 3rd Jr Markus Anglin, 5th Sr - Connor Anglin, White- Kaiden Mower

Cloverbud Participation- Emma Miller, Vance Koyle, Addie Bernal, and Stormy Kenney

Dogs - Taylor Kenney Res Grand Champion Int -showmanship, Catie Wolyn - Champion Beginner Novice C

Breeding Poultry - Reserve Champion - Hunter Lenzotti

Global Citizenship - Molly Wolyn Grand Champion

Rocketry - Orion Fernandez-Champion, Rodney Roggen-Red

Shooting Sports Boards - Orion Fernandez - red, Jessica Hastings-Blue
