Lady Thunderbolts Grab Pair of League Victories

It took five nail-biting games for the Lady T-Bolts to finish off the John Mall Panthers on Thursday, Aug. 29 during an away conference match. Rye ended the three-hour match with scores of 24/26, 25/19, 25/23, 22/25, 15/11. Setter #4 Ella Peters perfectly setting up the ball for Audrey Himmelberg. Peters had 5 sets played 1 ace and 24 digs on Thursday. Rye traveled to Holly High School for an away conference match on Saturday and quickly beat them 3-0. Peters played 3 sets, had 13 digs and 1 kill.

The Rye High School Girls’ Volleyball team won notched a pair of road wins last week to bring their record to 3-0.

On the 29th of August they traveled to John Mall and won the match with 3 sets to the home teams 2 sets. Tess Zupancic had 12 kills and Courtney Proctor had 10 kills in the victory. Havilah Pitzer had 19 of the 53 Thunderbolt blocks in the victory.

“I knew John Mall would be a contender,” shared Head Coach Jaime Donlon. “Going along with our philosophy this year we had to block their main hitter, Amanda Dotter. We did well at it, and had good defense behind the block.”

The Lady T’s swept Holly on the 31st 3 sets to none for the victory. Pitzer had six kills and three blocks. Ashlynn Romine had 20 digs and Audrey Himmelberg had five aces from the service line.

“We did not play to our potential at Holly but some games are meant for lesson to be learned,” commented Donlon.
