River of Life Church's 6th annual Western Day Celebration was a big success. Pastors' James and Ann Naron welcomed all who attended. It was an outdoor event under large sun shades that were installed this summer. There was live music, a chili cook-off competition, pot luck and games & stick horse race for kids. The Frost Mountain 5 band from Westcliffe and the Apache Creek Fiddlers from Rye gave everyone a boot stomping good time. Patricia Harris won a $50 prize for the best cowboy chili and Tammie Mathews won a $50 prize for the best green chili. It was estimated that there were over 100 people in attendance. Everyone had an awesome time and we have already started planning next years Western Day festivities and hope more people will participate.
