The Colorado State University-Pueblo Foundation and Alumni Association have announced that Shylo Dennison is a recipient of a 2019 Distinguished Young Alumni Award.

A total of four alumni under the age of 35, who have enhanced the reputation of the university and their respective colleges through outstanding professional achievement and services to CSU-Pueblo and their community will be recognized.

The awards complement CSU-Pueblo Foundation’s fourth annual #LoveCSUPueblo Give Day.

From the College of Education Engineering and Professional Studies, Dennison graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, health promotions and recreation. She went on to receive a Masters in Public Health Administration in 2012. As the Public Health Planner at Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment, Dennison is committed to improving the lives of Puebloans. She actively writes grants and has raised nearly $3 million to support department programs and services.

Dennison, who is involved in accreditation matters for the department, organized and facilitated a comprehensive community health assessment and then created a health improvement plan based upon the results.

“Shylo has enhanced the reputation of the university through outstanding professional and personal achievements,” said Carol Foust, Professor and Director of Health Sciences. “She has given so much to Pueblo in her emerging career and personal volunteerism. We certainly believe she is an outstanding role model for current and future CSU-Pueblo students and alumni. “
