January 21, 2019 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Pueblo Heritage Room, 201 W. B. Street, Pueblo, CO

The Frontier Pathways Scenic and Historic Byway will be conducting a public meeting to get input that will help shape the Byway’s future for the next 10 years. The Byway’s route is on SH96 from downtown Pueblo to Westcliffe and on SH165 from McKinnze Junction to Colorado City. The Byway is one of 26 state byways and one of 11 National Byways in the state. The Byway is updating its Corridor Management Plan, which must be updated every ten years to be certified a National Scenic and Historic Byway.

The management plan addresses protecting and promoting the Byway’s natural, historic, scenic and cultural resources while balancing these with the economic development of the region. The management plan must reflect the character, wishes and priorities of both the non-profit Byway Board and the communities, businesses, organizations and agencies on the Byway. Topics to be discussed include the Byway’s historic and sensitive sites, scenic qualities, tourism, recreation, economic development and the action items the Byway Board should concentrate on in the next 10 years to assure it remains a valued and viable part of the region.
