The Town of Rye Meeting of June 10, 2020 was highlighted with guest speakers. Greg Coulter of Effective Utility Management, introduced the concept of Ten Attributes of Effectively Managed Water Sector. The attributes cover a range of desired outcomes in the areas of operations, infrastructure, customer satisfaction, community welfare, natural resource stewardship and financial performance. Coulter gave the board a worksheet to rank the attributes on a scale of one to five to find their priorities. Coulter explained, "Many water and wastewater utilities face many common challenges, including rising costs, aging infrastructure, and increasingly more regulatory requirements. Utility companies can use the Attributes System to select priorities for improvement based on the need of each organization and the community it serves." Once priorities are established through the Ten Attributes worksheet, Coutler recommended purchasing i amGIS software to have data, maps, and documents all stored in one place. The purchase price of $1500 for the i amGIS software would include the initial set up and install fee but there would be an annual fee for this cloud-based service. The board approved the purchase of this software.
