There's been a few letters in the past months on the wearing of a mask (pros and cons). I don't go out in public very often, but when I do I wear a mask it's not that I'm convinced one way or the other on how much good it does. I just don't need the aggravation of meeting up with a fellow citizen who thrives on lecturing the rest of us: the type who complain about other people's dogs, lawns, and the condition of their houses; the type who lecture others about how much more they care about their kids; the soccer field storm troopers who, at the beginning of the year, send out a list of the approved "healthy snacks," and then chide the harried working mother of four who brought Goldfish (too much artificial flavor and color, and too much fat!!!) because that was all that was in the cupboard this morning and she didn't have time to cut apples or celery before getting everyone to the field; the type who cheered Mike Bloomberg's ban on Big Gulp sodas and insisted McDonald's post calorie data; and the type who call the police because some parent let her ten-year old walk home from school alone. Now trapped indoors, they need a diversion. They are our modern day COVID-19 hall monitors demanding our hall passes. Enough said.
