On July 10, in Division Courtroom 403, former Colorado City Metropolitan District (CCMD) Manager David Valdez pled guilty to felony 4 theft. Judge Karn sentenced Valdez to two years of supervised probation and 200 hours of community service.

Joe Koncilia, attorney for Valdez, presented the court with a certified check for restitution to the CCMD in the amount of $24,937.50. Koncilia was ordered to deliver the check to the Metro District and file the documentation with the court that the incident was completed.

The Metro District received the check on Monday, July 27 and have deposited it in the CCMD account.

Valdez resigned as District Manager for the CCMD in October 2018. An investigation into financial irregularities was begun by the Pueblo County Sheriff in June 2019 and charges were filed against Valdez on September 13, 2019.
