Rye High School’s Chance Donlon qualified for the state golf tournament and finished second in the Regional Golf Tournament held at Hollydot Golf Course. Donlon shot a one over par 72. Baine Roy shot a 90 to finish just outside the 13 state qualifiers and two alternates. Markus and Conner Anglin both shot a 98.
Donlon will play October 5-6 in Gunnison against the best players in the state.
“Chance has put in an incredible amount of time working on his game,” shared Assistant Coach Jim Hale. “He will be ready to compete and definitely has a chance to place.”
Colorado Academy won the team championship.
On the 17th Rye held their Invitational and tied for 6th out of 20 teams. Donlon shot a 76 and placed 5th. Roy shot a 98 and placed 39th. Markus Anglin shot a 99 and finished 43rd and Conner Anglin shot a 104 to finish 51st.
On the 14th in Rocky Ford, Donlon shot an 87 to place 6th. Roy shot a 93 to place 15th. Anthony Hutcheson shot a 100 and finished 22nd, Conner Anglin shot a 101 and finished 26th and brother Markus shot a 112, and placed 41st.
