In your attempt to explain the amendments being voted on this November in the October 1, 2020 edition of the Greenhorn Valley View, you missed the mark on explaining Amendment 117, which if passed would require voter approval for the creation of any new State of Colorado enterprise which is projected to generate more than $100 million in its first 5 years. In your summary (“bottom line”) you stated that if passed the amendment would require the voters to approve any change in fees for every enterprise in Colorado. This is false. The amendment only calls for voter approval for the creation of any new large enterprise. The legislature would continue to approve changes in fees. Imagine if every change in fees for every state enterprise in Colorado would be on the ballot. It would be a nightmare!

On another note I would like to congratulate our local Republican Party for the great visual demonstration of the current protocol on COVID-19 protections as shown in the photograph on page 1 of the October 8, 2020 edition of the Greenhorn Valley View. Of course I’m being sarcastic! And this gathering was presented by our local candidates for office and other members of the leadership of the Republican Party. The total disregard of the current requirements for mask wearing and social (6”) space between non family members for public gatherings in Colorado is ridiculous. As well as the total lack of caring about the health and safety of others is beyond understanding. And these people want to be the leaders in our legislature? I say “no thanks.” I’ll look elsewhere for leadership.

And if you think there is no COVID-19 in the valley you are mistaken. There was a reported incident of possible exposure at Rye elementary this week. So be careful.
