What is the rest of the story not told about why CHSAA ( Colorado High School Activities Association) agreed to have football this fall instead of February? The Boulder Daily Camera reported that there was a major push back in social media and fingers were wagged at Gov. Polis and CHSAA Commissioner Rhonda Green. It seems Ms. Green’s decisions are joined at the hip with the governor’s office….. Go figure! Parents publicly protested that neighboring states were playing football, and why not Colorado? Title IX was an issue as well as competitive equity having to do with weight room use was brought to the forefront. Isn’t it amazing what happens when people push back against tyranny? Will parents, coaches, athletic directors and principals question the lack of logic, lack of science and the sheer ignorance behind mask protocols for players in sports? Are they speaking out? Are parents concerned that these unscientific protocols could cause harm to their kids? Common sense should point to the obvious that respiratory hazards like fungal disease takes place when masks accumulate viruses, bacteria and other pathogens like staph, impetigo, folliculitis, especially when masks are dirty and wet with saliva. Unwashed hands touching the mask then touching the face can cause contamination. The football field is not surgical room sterile, neither are classrooms for that matter. If a player comes down sick with a respiratory disease caused by a mask it will surely be blamed or diagnosed as Covid and it is a sure prescription for a so called second wave of lockdowns, or is that the plan? Where are the protectors of kids? In any event two things are for certain the governor loves and cares for us and common sense and courage is not very common!
