The Rye High School football team traveled to Paonia last week for the initial contest of the year and came home with a 13-0 shutout.
Seniors Caleb Maglietto, Daniel Indgjer, and Hayden Polk closed down the Paonia offense, combining for 28 tackles and a sack and allowing only 102 yards of offense from the line of scrimmage. The Thunderbolts also had a pair of interceptions.
The offense sputtered, fumbling five times and losing four of those possessions. But, they did enough to win the opening season victory.
