Pueblo County School District 70 Board of Education called a special meeting for Wednesday, November 11, to review the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in Pueblo County. District 70’s Todd Seip reported there are approximately 110 cases this week in Pueblo County with 31 active cases in District 70 Schools. Eleven of the district’s schools are closed and 49% of the population is in remote learning at this time.

After reviewing the current statistics with the board, Superintendent Ed Smith made the formal recommendation that District 70 schooling go to full remote as of November 12, until at least January 4, 2021.

Pueblo School District 70 Board of Education was warned of a possible return to remote or limited hybrid learning if COVID-19 cases continued to rise at the last regular board meeting last week. The decision was pending Pueblo County’s move to the “orange” level on the COVID dial. Pueblo County is ending its sixth straight week of increased COVID cases.
