The Fourth Annual Maggie Drew Peters’ Memorial Polar Plunge will move from the cold waters of Lake Beckwith to the waters of social media, in an effort to alleviate concerns that the COVID-19 virus might cast a negative shadow on an event that is about hope, suicide prevention, and a future rather than a premature end.
At the prior three events, brave young people from Rye High School, parents, teachers, and community members met at Lake Beckwith and plunged into the icy waters to raise money to help Maggie’s parents, Tim Peters and Karen Hopkins, give scholarships to RHS students for continued education.
