Well folks we made it, 2020 is finally in the rearview mirror. Now on to 2021. Every year I spend the better part of December trying to hear direction from the Lord for the upcoming year. Last year about this time I felt the Lord impress on me Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (ESV). After getting this I thought for sure I had totally missed it.
The economy was strong, we were bringing our warriors home from foreign lands, borders were being secured, business was good, interest rates were low as was unemployment…life was pretty good. Then came February’s Gut punch! Little did I know just how much I would be clinging to and claiming this scripture.
I’m not sure what the “word of the Lord” is for 2021 yet but what I feel I have so far is this; Revelations 12:11 says that “they have conquered him (the enemy) by the Blood of the Lamb (Jesus’ sacrifice for us on the cross), the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.” (ESV) Key part here is “the word of their testimony,” I believe it is imperative at this time in our history for the people of God to be prepared to give an account of what we believe.
I believe that this upcoming year we are going to have many opportunities to share our faith through our testimony. Our Testimony is simply the story of our faith journey, past and present. What my life was like without Him, what He did to draw me into a personal relationship with Him and what he is doing now to encourage and grow that relationship. I can’t imagine what it must have been like for people to go through 2020 void of a personal relationship with Jesus but I’m sure it has been difficult. If my story can help folks know that they are not too far gone for God to love and forgive them and that they are never alone then I’m going to take every opportunity to tell it. I hope you will share yours as well.
Happy New year.
