A tenuous sports season begins on January 27 when the Rye Wrestling Team travels to Rocky Ford for Santa Fe League tournament action. Crowley, Holly, Rocky Ford and Rye make up the combatants for matches that start at 3 p.m.
That continues into the 28th with wrestling based on the action of the 27th.
The Rye High School boys’ basketball team will take the court in Manitou Springs on January 28th for their initial game under new head coach Dakota Stupar. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
The last time the Rye High School Girls’ team almost took the floor was at the state tournament last March. On the 28th they face off in their opening game of the season at Manitou Springs beginning at 5 p.m.
Craver Middle School has announced that their basketball and wrestling season will not take place this year. Middle school football and volleyball are still scheduled as are the spring sports.
