Last week the Greenhorn Valley View ran a “guest editorial” by Robin Stern PhD. titled What is Gaslighting?

The View had procured the information from what we had deemed was a reliable source. A loyal reader had some misgivings about the information and did further investigation. Through a family member who is attending Yale, our reader contacted Dr. Stern.

Bottom line, the first three paragraphs of the article were indeed the work of Dr. Stern. At that point the article went off on a tangent about how the media was “gaslighting” us all.

The copy of the article was sent to Dr. Stern.

Her response is below:

“I really appreciate your reaching out. - and, your timing is uncanny --

This same article was circulated months ago and I wrote a response which I tried to place in popular media - just TODAY, I decided to update the lead and post it on my blog on Psychology Today. I was literally just editing it when I received your mail.

I definitely will post it and I would be very appreciative if you would talk to your friends. I would be happy to talk to you on the phone or to confirm with your friends that I did not write this piece and it does not represent my views.

I will also send you a link to my article - or may rethink where I post it, given that this person is still circulating the fraudulent article.”

We emailed Dr. Stern on Monday to include any additional comments she would like to appear in the paper this week.

She did not respond. Thank you to our reader who made the effort and “connected the dots,” our apology to Dr. Stern for not investigating further and our apologies to the rest of our readers because we pride ourselves on dealing with solid sources and in facts.
