We are excited to welcome participation from the community at our Earth Day Event celebration to be held Saturday, April 17th, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a sneak peek of the improvements at VFC’s Community Center/Trailhead at 4705 Santa Fe Drive in Colorado City. This will be an opportunity to examine our plans for the entire trail network, and to talk with experts about local flora and fauna. Linda McMulkin, retired biologist from CSU-Pueblo Extension Service, will be on hand to answer questions. The backup weather date will be Saturday, April 24. Keep your eyes on the Greenhorn Valley View for upcoming events starting with EARTH DAY 2021.

We seek out feedback from the public at every project’s launch through its completion. Look for announcements of public hearings where we hope to further determine the community’s priorities. We will examine how the trail system can be created to allow access for special needs users, as well as people traveling the non-motorized trail for connectivity, exercise, and group activities, etc.

The public is invited to join us in showing off this newest cog in our community’s outdoor recreational and educational wheel. It will provide visitors and residents with unique opportunities for exploring our beautiful and historic area as our forefathers did – on foot and by non-motorized vehicle.

We will observe COVID precautions during our sneak peek. Please wear a mask.
