The 7th Grade Varisty girls basketball team came home with a district championship Dec 16th. The team coached by Gunny Pagnotta had a record of 7-2 with the only two loses to Pleasant View. In the final game of the district championship it was Craver against Pleasant View again. The third times a charm was definetly so for the Craver girls - winning the game 20-15. Coach Pagnotta said, I would like to congratulate the DISTRICT CHAMPIONS! Megan, Jayde, Bryna, Taylor, Karli Jo, Riley, and Maddy truly met and exceeded the standard for hustle, heart, work ethic, intensity, and exciting fast-paced basketball. I would like to thank them for the privilege of coaching them. They are a team of FAITH and BELIEF. They are single-minded, play with purpose and passion, and define what a true T.E.A.M. is. They proved, with great certainty, that HEART is far more important than HEIGHT in basketball! I would like to thank their previous coaches, Beth Burns, Tammy Van Oort, and Angelique Fuentes who instilled the basketball skills, hard work, team play, and winning spirit early on. Also, thanks to the parents of these girls for all of the support, time, and effort required in raising such incredible young ladies and athletes!" The 7th Grade JV girls basketball team was also in a district championship but came away with a 2nd place. Coached by Chris Reiners, their record for the season was 9-3 with two of those loses coming from Pleasant View. Coach Reiners remarked, "As a coach I could not be more proud of these girls. They brought a hard-working positive attitude to every practice and game. The girls accomplished every goal they set for themselves and I just hope they learned as much from me as I did from them." The championship game was against Pleasant View with the girls losing 16-6.

Coach Pagnotta said, "Congratulations to the 7th grade JV and Coach Chris Reiners who narrowly missed a district championship of their own. Finally, to the 8th grade girls who, under the tutelage of Coach Dee Betts, showed unbelievable improvement since last season. Rye High School and Coach Spencer are waiting with open arms!
