The Rye Men’s Basketball Team season came to an end last week at the hands of Alamosa.
Rye came into a group of four needing to win two consecutive games to advance. However the Alamosa Maroons stood in their way. The Maroons entered the game at 18-3, riding high looking for another deep playoff run. Despite Coach Kevin Maroney’s optimism for an upset, Alamosa controlled the game. The Bolts would fall behind and lose the game by a 52-44 score. “I’m very disappointed by the outcome of the game” said Coach Maroney, “they definitely were not a poor team (Alamosa would clinch a spot in the state competition the next day), and we didn’t give our best effort that day. I can’t say enough about the jump in competition level between 2A and 3A.” With the loss Rye’s season came to an end.
