Thirteen Rye High School athletes represented the Thunderbolts in eight events at the Colorado State Track Championship last weekend. The tracksters had to deal with a condensed schedule, an incredible crowd and changing of plans due to weather. A mental challenge at best along with the fact that the 18 best athletes in the state were in each event.

Rye won a pair of medals. Natalie Phillips placed 7th (top eight place at state) in the shot put with a throw of 33í7.75Ē. Thirty-eight womenís teams scored points in the state meet and the Lady Tís placed 34th.

Also medaling was the menís 4x400 meter relay team. They ran a season best time of 3:37.37 to place 8th. Kyle Shaffer, Will Goos, Colton Sims, and Ben Squier ran the four legs of that event.
