In 2010 the Rye girl’s cross-country team placed 2nd at regionals, it happened again on Oct. 19 at 2A Regionals on a warm fall day. Raechel Lopez came across the finish line at 22:49 for 4th place with Lindsey Muniz right behind at 24:15 in 13th place. Both of these Lady T-Bolts qualified individually as well as part of Rye’s team for State competition at the Norris/Penrose Events Center on Oct. 28 at 10am.

T.J.Blackhurst, Head Coach, told the girls he knew they would qualify for State if they ran their best and for each other, they listened. Rye girls ran against six full teams at Regionals with Faith Paquette finishing at 24:48; Emily Peterson at 27:08; Lauren Mahoney at 28:08; Rebecca Lopez at 29:48; Katie Richardson at 32:06 and Eva Kirkland at 35:41. Raechel Lopez has gotten more confident over the season with a “combination of having a lot of talent and working hard,” said Blackhurst.” “State competition course will be tough with a lot of hills in it, but I feel it should work to our advantage.” The intensity of the girls workouts will increase this week so they are at their fastest times this coming Saturday.
