Friday and Saturday in Sanford, the ever-shrinking Rye High School Wrestling team will set their sites on a trip to the State Wrestling Tournament at the Pepsi Center in Denver on February 15-16-17. To make the trip, the five Thunderbolt wrestlers, must place in the top four.

Freshman Michael Atencio, the number one rated 113 lb. in 2A, leads the charge with a 28-1 record. Atencio’s only loss came in a match where he wrestled at 120 lb. Last week Atencio won the Tri-Peaks League Tournament with a ten second fall, a second fall, this one in 63 seconds and a 12-0 major decision in the championship.
