The number one team in the state traveled to the Thunderdome last Saturday and showed the young Lady T’s why they are number one, handing them a loss 64-16. St. Mary’s continued their unbeaten string at the expense of the locals.
“Playing the number one team in the state was a colossal task,” shared Head Coach Kermit Spencer. “As a coach, I always prepare and plan to win. With that being said, as a coach, I know what’s coming and set expectations for our team. I felt like we won the battles that I had set forth for the team. It’s often better to play the best team so to more accurately measure our growth. I saw things in the St. Mary’s game that proved to me that we are on the right path. Even, at this time, against the best team in the state, our turnovers were minimal; our rebounding was much improved, as was our shooting percentage.”
