“It may sound counter intuitive,” Rye Head Football Coach Connor Pigg shared,” but I think the whole team was excited with our performance on Friday night. Looking at the score 0-42 it looks like a huge blow out. It should be mentioned that we were in the game for the first three quarters. Trailing by 13 going into half and down 21 going into the 4th quarter. We were in the red zone four times and were unable to convert.”
“These athletes know that we are getting closer to where we need to be. We had some mistakes late in the game that led to the wheels falling off late in the fourth quarter,” he continued. “We played one of the top teams in the league tough for 40 out of 48 minutes. We had many breaks that didn't go our way and if we clean up a few things on all sides of the ball we are looking at a football team that can be very competitive.”
