The Rye High School volleyball team carries a first place standing in the Santa Fe League into three games this week, all with serious ramifications for post season positioning. Last night (Wednesday) the Lady Thunderbolts took on Colorado Springs School (results will be in next weeks paper). Tonight, they will travel to Pueblo West to face Swallows and on Saturday will host Simla.

The 14-2 Thunderbolts are currently ranked sixth in RPI (Ratings Percentage Index).

Last week the Thunderbolts dispatched Hoehne in three straight sets 25-16,25-22, and 25-19.

“I was worried with all the Homecoming festivities and such that the girls would be tired and not as focused,” shared Head Coach Jamie Donlan. “We knew we had to win to keep with our RPI ranking and Hoehne needed to win to help their RPI. We traveled there and it was their Homecoming and they have a great loud crowd. The C team and JV lost which was hard to follow. My team came out strong and never let up. We won in three games. This game was fun, intense and a big win was just what we needed as we head toward the end of the season.”
