If the enormous crowds and the fast pace of runners don’t get to you, then the loops on the backside of the course will. Rye’s Lady T-Bolt Audrey Maroney finished 7th in the girls 2A race at State Competition at the Norris-Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs on Saturday, Oct 27.

“It was an amazing start for a freshman, she has the fastest recorded time at State with a 20:49.7 for Rye High School,” said Coach TJ Blackhurst. “It’s hard to understand the intensity of State competition until you are actually there, and we did that this year.” Blackhurst purposefully had his teams running against schools like Gunnison, Salida and Alamosa with big races to prepare for State. “We are looking to get even faster and more competitive for next year. These kids participate in one of the toughest sports out there, and the way they do it is amazing to me,” he said. “This was a very tight-knit group that is extremely positive and supportive of one another.“
