The Rye High School Boys’ Soccer team continues to improve but were on the short side of the scoreboard in a pair of games last week.

At Thomas MacLaren on the 24th the Thunderbolts dropped a 6-0 decision. Sophomore Jake Scott had seven steals in the contest and upperclassmen Brock Roman and Daniel Indjger had half a dozen steals each.

The Thunderbolts took three shots at the opponent’s goal, while T-Bolt goalie Kenin Wing was barraged with 29 shots, 23 of which he saved.

“The score didn’t reflect the game,” said Head Coach Mike Wing. “We played pretty well and the team is coming together a little bit at a time.”

Overall the team is also getting healthier, although Sarah Nielsen is out for the season.

The soccer team has a busy schedule in the next few days. Tuesday night they traveled to Dolores Huerta (1-6). That match will be in the View next week. Then tonight (Thursday) they host Fountain Valley (6-1) and on Saturday will travel to Vanguard (1-4).
