The Rye High School Boys’ Basketball team won a game and dropped a pair to serious state contenders last week.

On the 10th Rye traveled to Manitou and came up on the short end of the scoreboard 65-24. Manitou, according to Head Coach Kyle Spencer is a 3A team that has the athleticism and depth to push into the 3A post season. Statistics were not available at press time.

At the Evangelical Christian Tournament, Rye faced Fountain Valley on Friday the 13th. The Thunderbolts overcame a 14-13 first quarter deficit to run away with the contest 66-38. Statistics were not available at press time.

On Saturday, Rye lined up against host team ECA. Evangelical Christian won the contest 49-31. Rye was down 34-27 at half and went completely cold on offense in the second half scoring only four points.

Michael Valdez led the team in scoring with 11 points and also had a pair of assists. Hayden Polk scored eight points and had half a dozen rebounds. Kreed Rahl also had six rebounds. Robert Buford had three steals.
