The Rye High School Boys’ Basketball team played like two different teams in a loss at home last Friday by a score of 78-43.

“In the first half we showed exactly what we are capable of,” shared Head Coach Kyle Spencer. “We are a team skilled enough and talented enough to compete with the top teams in the state. (Holly is ranked 7th in 2A) The second half exposed our inexperience.”

At the intermission the Thunderbolts trailed visiting Holly 35-31 and had led the game at the end of the first quarter 17-15. But, in the second half Holly outscored the home team 43-12 and handed the Thunderbolts their fifth loss against three victories.

Chance Donlon led scoring for the T-Bolts with 14 points and a pair of assists. Michael Valdez scored eight points and also had a pair of assists. Robert Buford pulled in half a dozen rebounds and had four steals. Hayden Polk had five rebounds.

The Bolts shot 33% as a team from the field and 67% at the free throw line.
