Six Thunderbolts achieved all-league status in their respective sports despite the abrupt way the winter sports ended.

The once beaten (24-1) Lady Thunderbolt basketball team had four players make the all-conference team: Jolee Ortiz, Chloe Richardson, Sydney Adamson, and Sophie Adamson. Ortiz and Richardson are Juniors and the Adamson twins are Sophomores.

Morgan Elarton, another sophomore, made Honorable Mention All-Conference.

None of this bodes well for opponents next year.

Two-time state wrestling champion Michael Atencio was Santa Fe League All- Conference. Riley Prichard and Cole Miller won Honorable Mention Honors. Prichard was a senior but Atencio (Junior) and Miller (Sophomore) will return for the grapplers.

On the boys’ side of the roundball Michael Valdez made All-Conference. Teammate Brock Benz was voted Honorable Mention. Valdez is a Junior and Benz a sophomore.

So, if you are keeping score, of the 10 Thunderbolts who received all-conference recognition, nine of those will be back next season. The future of winter sports next year looks bright.
