What a Ride! Last Thursday, March 12th, your Lady “T-Bolts” took on powerhouse Sanford in the opening round of the State Class 2A, Championship Tournament. The game took place in the “Big House”, Budweiser Event Center, in Loveland. The Team went into the Tourney with a 24 - 0 overall, and 13 - 0 League record. This season has never been matched by any other Rye H.S. Team.

Going in, Rye had scored almost 1300 points this year, versus giving up only about 600. They averaged almost 54 points per game, with a field goal percentage of around 40%. They averaged almost 26 rebounds per game, and 14 steals per game. What a great year!

Sanford proved to be a tough adversary. They brought at least three seasoned players who had been to the Elite Eight years previous. Having that experience seemed to have been the difference. Rye came up short, 46 - 31.

Coach Spencer commented “Everybody stepped up, showed lots of character, and played their hearts out. I think the grandeur of it all, along with the newness of the big arena, played a part in the game. It was overwhelming. These are such great kids. Getting to this point showed a lot of dedication and heart. This is now the expectation and path we’re on for future seasons. A Coach couldn’t ask for more from a Team. This was a ride I’ll never forget. It was sad the way it ended, though.” CHSAA called off the tournament due to the virus threat, so the remaining games were not played.
