“You can’t commit eight errors and walk four batters against a good team and come out with one in the win column,” shared Head Coach Stacey Graham.

“ The field played hard and fast, but we play on different fields all the time,” Graham continued.

“We just need to do the basics and get our bats fired up.”

Aydin Swald scored both Rye runs, on one hit and stole a base.

Axton Ehrlich drove in a run and also stole a base. Other than that, the offense had a rough night against the #10 ranked home team. Will Hamler was a perfect four put outs in four tries in a game where errors were the rule rather than the exception.

Swald started on the mound and pitched 2 2/3 innings. He gave up four hits, and one earned run. He had no walks or strikeouts. Ehrlich took his place and also gave up four hits, but surrendered six earned runs. He walked four and struck out three.

Tuesday, Rye hosted #15 ranked Monte Vista (12-3) and Saturday they travel to Swink (11-4) for a doubleheader. Swink is ranked #12. Rye is in #21.

“Even though we’ve been facing some tough teams our attitude is good,” confided Graham. “ This is one of those years we may be in the middle of the pack, but I tell the kids, when postseason comes, let’s be ready to jump on the bus, travel wherever we need to, and see what happens.”
