The girls soccer team split a pair of games last week, dropping a Wednesday contest to Fountain Valley, 4-1 and downing Pueblo Central 5-0 on Friday.

Fountain Valley took a 3-0 lead at halftime on their home field. Towards the end of the game Averi Velez scored a goal to cut the lead to two, but Fountain Valley added one more goal at the end of the game for the final margin.

Goal keeper Stephanie Bak had 18 saves in the contest and allowed the four goals.

Fountain Valley was the 2A state runner up last year.

Against Central, Rye was up 2-0 at halftime and stretched that to the final 5-0 score.

Angelina Atencio scored three goals in the victory. Velez had three assists and Sady Stinchcomb and Mazzy Miller each scored a goal. Stinchcomb also had an assist.

Bak kept the Central players from scoring and had one save to her credit.

“Central was a good game and we took lots of shots,” shared Head Coach John Crowell. “Defense played really well stopping lots of threats before they got near the net.”

On Wednesday they will face #40 ranked Ellicot (1-11) and on Saturday the regular season will end on the road facing #22 ranked St. Mary’s.
