Letters to the Editor

It looks like CCMD in going to spend another chunk of change on yet another RJH Engineering study.

It might be a real shock to see just what the total amount or dollars have been spent on contracts to RJH for studies over the last 20 years.

Way back there was a big study made to investigate a 2 nd reservoir north of Beckwith in the “shale zone” Then we have had a study to replace the diversion dam along with a full survey of the Hicklin Ditch to make sure it would run water from the diversion to lake Beckwith. (Seemed odd since the ditch had actually been running for years) Then we had a big study along with sensors in the dam so we could monitor any movement.

Then we had a study to design a “quick release” system so Beckwith could be lowered very rapidly in case of a serious problem.

Now we are going to issue another contract in an amount of nearly $400,000.

So far not one shovel full of dirt has been turned over but maybe this is the one.
