At Evraz Mountain Steel Mill a fire erupted last Friday and produced large quantities of black smoke, health advisories and multiple burned buildings.

On Saturday, Mayor Heather Graham posted a video saying the fire was under control.

There were no injuries at Evraz and a building used for staging and storage was identified as the point where the fire started.

The Evraz Fire combined with the Vision Hills Fire caused the Pueblo Health Department to issue a public health alert. It was recommended people stay indoors.

Elmwood and Walking Stick Golf courses were closed, as were local baseball games scheduled for Langoni Field.

The Vision Hills Fire also began Friday morning in NE Pueblo and was 80% contained by Saturday evening. Over 100 acres were burned.

The fire forced some evacuations on Overton Road but were lifted on Saturday morning.

Multiple fire crews responded to the blazes in Pueblo. Pueblo Fire Department, Pueblo County Emergency Services Division Fire, Pueblo Rural Fire Department, Beulah Fire Department, Rye Fire Protection District, West Park Fire Department, Hanover Fire Protection District, Pueblo Chemical Depot, Pueblo County Road and Bridges Division of Fire Protection and Control and AMR all assisted.

RFPD also had a truck with crew on the Vision Hills fire.

A lightning caused wildfire is currently burning on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land approximately 20.4 miles N of Mancos. This wildfire, known as the Cottonwood Fire, has already consumed 25 acres in a rugged canyon south of the Weber Mountain summit. The fire strategy is full suppression, and a helicopter has been assigned to assist in firefighting efforts. As of now, there is no reported containment level. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
