Terri E Saurber, 70 - November 15, 1952-April 30, 2023 Terri Eileen Saurber left on her journey to heaven on April 30, 2023, after a difficult battle with ALS.

Terri was preceded in death by parents James and Ardith Watrous, leaving behind her husband of 47 years, Mike Saurber, sister Kim and brother-in-law Terry Bach, sister Lisa and brother-in-law Steve McKean, sister-in law and brother-in-law Rick and Sue Saurber, sister-in-law Judy Knoth, Cousin Russ (Connie) Darr, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, special friends Carol and Gary Brady, Roseann Pease, and “fur babies” Augie and Cody.

Terri was born in Denver, CO and grew up in Des Moines IA, and Overland Park KS, graduating from Shawnee Mission West High School. The family then moved back to Littleton CO, where Terri graduated from Arapahoe Community College with a Medical Assistant Degree. Preferring animals to people, she began a career in animal health lasting over 45 years, first as the office manager for Alpine Animal Hospital in Littleton, and then for MWI Animal Health in customer service and finance. She loved her clients, customers and co-workers alike.

Terri loved horses and spent many years competing successfully in horse shows with Quarter horses and Paints. After her horse show career, she began breeding and raising Labrador Retrievers, competing in numerous dog shows and field training events. She won Best of Breed at the prestigious Rocky Mountain Classic event at the National Western Stock Show with Grady, her champion Labrador Retriever. Terri loved George Strait, John Elway, and Josh Allen. She was a true “fanatic” fan of the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Avalanche. She loved family camping trips, where she was known as “The Cribbage Queen” for her relentless love of beating family members at cribbage.

In 2020, Terri and Mike found their dream retirement home, a beautiful cabin in Rye, CO. They always felt if you were lucky enough to live in the mountains, then you were lucky enough.

Terri will be met at heaven’s gate by the many cherished horses, dogs, and cats that shared her life A special thank you to all the kind people in Colorado City and Rye, CO, Nurse Lisa, and all the wonderful staff at Sangre de Cristo Hospice for their loving care.

Terri did not want any service, but asked for friends and family to “tip a pint” in her honor and remember the good times shared.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Terri’s name to Freedom Service Dogs (freedomservicedogs.org).
