Letters to the Editor

Editor,

Thank you for having the grit to bring abortion to our attention. It will be, as you indicate, a pivotal topic in November’s presidential election. As you, I do not have the answers to what may forever remain an insolvable issue, often considered a political third rail. What I do have is a well thought out time line at which I believe life should be considered sacred.

That there are often justifiable differences between the positions of women and men on the abortion issue is understandable. As a man, I will never conceive, carry and birth a child. But, as a man, I know that my life bond with that X & Y chromosome created miracle is no less committed and powerful than that of the mother.

My hope is that, as X and Y carriers, we find common ground in the joy and awe of love.

Gordon MacAlister
