So many kids these days are looking for a new group to join. There are many reasons for that, for example some kids just want to get out of their comfort zone, or they are trying to find something that inspires them for the future ahead of them. The TSA organization is all about learning new things. Students get to work on different competitions and compete at state with those projects. Students also work on different fundraisers throughout the year, service projects, and leadership projects.

There are so many projects that students can pick from for their state competitions. Projects are all related to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). Some projects that Rye High students are currently working on are photography, architectural design, structural design, CADD engineering, demand filming, catapult, technology problem solving, and structural engineering. Students will head to Denver Wednesday, February 21, to prepare for the state competition held Thursday thru Saturday the 24th. This year Mrs. Anglin and Mr. Ressel, the TSA advisors, will be taking around thirty-eight kids to the competition.

Students need to fundraise throughout the year to be able to pay for the fees that they incur attending the TSA state competition. Rye TSA had a STEAM night in November where parents were able to drop their kids off and have the high school TSA members and advisors help watch them and teach some different STEAM activities. This fundraiser/service project went very well, and the students decided to put on a second STEAM night on Saturday February 17th at the high school. The students and advisors provided cheap babysitting for parents in the Rye community to be able to spend a few hours out without their kids, while their kids have fun learning about STEAM. Members presold tickets to parents for $20 that included three full hours of STEAM Valentine’s themed fun activities and snacks. TSA is truly an amazing and intriguing program for everyone, and we look forward to hearing how they do at their state competitions this week. Thank you to the community members that have helped these great students prepare for their competitions and for being a part of their fundraisers and service projects.
